‘Tis the Season…To Shop ‘Til You Drop (Or, You Know, Panic-Order): A Peek into the HubBox Office’s Christmas Shopping Styles
Ah, Christmas. A time for joy, merriment, and...the annual shopping frenzy.
It’s that time of year again! The festive season is just around the corner, and the countdown to Christmas has officially begun. As the days get shorter and the nights get colder, the holiday spirit is unmistakable. Decorations are going up, Christmas music is playing everywhere, and people are starting to think about that oh-so-important task: Christmas shopping.
In the spirit of the season (and maybe a bit of procrastination), I decided to take a little poll around the office to see how my colleagues tackle the Christmas shopping challenge. Let’s just say, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to gift-giving.
Meet the Christmas Shoppers of Our Office
Nikki, the November Navigator:
Nikki’s got it all figured out…or so she thinks. “I try to spread it out and start in November and shop entirely online” Nikki says. No lists, no spreadsheets, armed with nothing but her intuition and a love for online deals.
Dan, the One-and-Done Shopper:
Dan’s got a different strategy: he sets aside one glorious day (or maybe a few hours if he’s feeling ambitious) to power through his entire list. “I go through who I need to buy for and blitz it in one session”.
Andy, the Amazon Aficionado:
Andy’s a classic last-minute shopper, relying on Amazon’s speedy delivery to save the day (and his Christmas). Two days before the big event, he’s frantically clicking “add to cart,” hoping his gifts arrive in time. I ask him whether his family and friends like these panic-bought offerings to which Andy says “they tell me they do.” Well, that’s the spirit of Christmas.
Greg, the HubBox Hero:
Greg’s got a unique approach to shopping for his wife. Being a loyal HubBox team member, he exclusively buys presents from HubBox clients (like Ugg and Fairfax & Favor) and picks up every order. “In the past when I’ve left it late and we’re both at home over Christmas getting orders delivered to home has ruined Christmas gift surprises.”
Suat, the Speed-Demon Shopper:
Suat typically shops online, and while shipping costs aren’t a deal-breaker for him, speed is everything. For Suat, Christmas shopping is a race against the clock, especially when it comes to those last-minute gifts. “I need to know it’s going to arrive on time,” he says. And with express shipping at his fingertips, Suat always manages to get those presents under the tree just in time.
James, the In-Store Enthusiast:
In stark contrast to the online shoppers, we have James, our in-store shopping enthusiast – “I really like doing it in person and I get very excited around Christmas.” He loves the experience of shopping in brick-and-mortar stores, soaking up the festive atmosphere and enjoying the thrill of the hunt for the perfect gift.
Bianca, the Last-Minute Shopper Extraordinaire:
Bianca’s the queen of last-minute shopping. She and her sister team up to buy gifts for their parents, but they often struggle to make a decision. This means lots of express deliveries and frantic searches for the perfect present.
When it comes to Black Friday, Bianca is a seasoned pro, though she’s noticed that the deals aren’t what they used to be. “In the last few years, it hasn’t been what it was, and the deals aren’t that great,” she says. But that doesn’t stop her from shopping around and subscribing to every email list she can find in the hunt for those elusive discounts.
So, What’s the Moral of the Story?
So, there you have it—the wonderfully diverse shopping habits of our office crew. Whether you’re a Nikki, a Dan, an Andy, or maybe even a bit of all of them, one thing’s for sure: Christmas shopping is as varied and personal as the gifts we give.
